Thank you very much for visiting my
website. I hope that I can provide you with enough information about
my work that you will pursue either purchasing one of my in stock
guitars or having me build one for you to your specifications. Please
don’t hesitate to contact me for more information or to ask further
questions. There is no consultation fee of any kind.
Instrument building is the most
exacting, demanding and rewarding endeavor that I have pursued and
continues to be a challenge like no other I have undertaken. It is my
goal to produce 8 to 12 fine
guitars each year. Currently, I make three styles; the first based
on a Martin Dreadnaught, which is my SGD series. The second is
based on a Martin Orchestra Model ( OM), the KOM series. The body of
the OM model is slightly smaller in all dimensions and has a tighter
waist. Many people prefer a guitar of this size as opposed to a large
dreadnaught. The third is a Squareneck Resophonic guitar (dobro-style)
which is my RSB series.
There are three
mainstays to my business: superior sound, excellent craftsmanship and
customer satisfaction. I take great pains to develop the sound
characteristics of each instrument while using all my skills to
produce a very high quality product. Your satisfaction is
guaranteed. CMI guitars are fully warranted for materials and
workmanship.
Materials are
selected from the best available. I prefer to use Sitka Spruce for
acoustic guitar tops but have also used Engleman Spruce and Western
Red Cedar. Woods for guitar bodies are usually Mahogany, Walnut,
Maple or Birch. I also have East Indian Rosewood, Sapelle’ and
Bloodwood. I can access just about any wood available around the
world if you want something more exotic. No veneers are used in the
bodies, only solid woods. Ebony is usually my selection for fret
boards and bridges but other woods can be substituted on request.
Bone is the material of choice for saddles, nuts and most bridge
pins. A truly double acting truss rod is installed in the neck of
each acoustic guitar.
Instruments may be
made to order based on your selection of woods, inlay materials and
other accessories including electronic pickups. The price will vary
accordingly. I am always happy to discuss your ideas and requirements
for a personalized instrument.
Thanks for your
interest.
