Strum sticks have been around for some time.
This is my own design.
Basically, this is a three string guitar. They are very easy to play
and easy to learn. They are a very good instrument for someone who is
just exploring music or for someone who wants something completely
different and a lot of fun.
MATERIALS:
I make Twanginators in Maple, Birch, Walnut, Mahogany and will use
most any other wood if requested. I use Banjo strings tuned to either
G or to D. Tuning machines are of the geared 3 on a plate type. The
binding and rosette is made to match or compliment the wood used in
the body. The finish is waterborn lacquer that is hand rubbed to a
satin sheen.
FRETBOARD LAYOUTS:
You can order a Diatonic fretboard or a Chromatic fretboard. While the
scale length is the same on either, The Diatonic fretboard has no
sharps or flats. This is very like a Dulcimer. The Chromatic fretboard
is exactly like that of a guitar, with all the same fret positions.
TUNING:
Diatonic fretboards are tuned 1-5-1 in the key of D so the strings
would be tuned D-A-D, with the two D strings an octave apart. This is
just like a Dulcimer.
Chromatic fretboards are tuned 1-3-5 in the key of G so the strings
are tuned G-B-D, or Open G. Chromatic Twanginators can be tuned to any
open key. Ordinary guitar capos can be used with ease.
ORDERING:
Contact me to see what is currently in stock. If you want to order a
special one, state the type of fretboard, your tuning preference and
the materials you would like.
PRICE:
Twanginators are $265.00 Cdn, plus shipping and all applicable taxes.
The price includes a fabric case and an instruction booklet with chord
diagrams.
